September Jobs Report Promising, GOP angry?

OK, here we go again folks!

Just as the government released a dramatically upbeat September jobs report, it didn’t take long for the right wing media machines to get in a tizzy!  In a somewhat surprising rebound, it turns out the U.S. economy added 114,000 jobs last month.  Additionally, jobs estimates from both July and August were revised upwards by a combined 86,000 additional jobs.  Because of these numbers, and many other factors, the unemployment rate ticked down to 7.8%, falling below 8% for the first time in four years!  Woohooo!!!  Nothing can stop us now!

Great news, right?  Not so fast say Republicans!!!

In another equally shocking, yet SAD to see event, the former CEO of General Electric, famed businessman Jack Welch, said on air that “these Chicago guys will do anything…can’t debate so change numbers”.  Yep, that is what he said.  I’m not even kidding here.  Seriously?!?!?!

To think that someone so revered in business circles could utter a statement so ridiculous is utterly breathtaking.  I’m still in shock…that I could use the wor “utter” twice in the same sentence.  Sweet!  But I digress…

Sadly, Welch was not alone in his hysteria.  Americans for Limited Government (a pro-GOP group and regular Obama administration critic) and a senior writer at the Washington Examiner (a conservative-leaning newspaper) have both made public statements questioning the integrity of the jobs report.

I would have thought that Welch and his conservative allies would have been jumping for joy after completely overwhelming Obama in the year’s first presidential debate.  I guess not!

To close, I’d like to have a moment of silence for a nearly-departed friend, Big Bird.  Hold off just a moment, Mitt.  No trip to KFC for the yellow bird yet.
